Have you ever wanted to play World of Warcraft, but can't do to the graphicalness of it?
Do you enjoy strategic planning in order to conquer the other side?
Do you prefer accessible games with full surroundsound and not just a MUD with choppy sound affects, if the builder even chose to use it?
Do you enjoy playing over the internet against other people?

If you are like me, then you will definitely enjoy sound rts.
It is based off of WoW and is totally accessible. In fact, there are no pictures what so ever. Don't expect this to be a replica of WoW, however, it is fantastic nevertheless.
Please go to
http://jlpo.free.fr/soundrts/
It is in beta developments, however, it is fully functional.

I started playing this a couple weeks back and got hooked lol.
If you have questions, please read the manual first, then post q's here and I will do my best to answer them.
Tip: After installing the game and launching it, tab to the options, hit enter, tab to "use alternate soundpack"(something like that), and hit enter to turn it on. The difference is night and day in terms of sound quality. Don't forget to tab to save the settings.

ah, its cool to find a person on here that plays this as well. I started a few weeks ago and love it.
Give this game about 30 minutes and you'll be glad you did.
hmm, havn't tried the online mode yet but I will soon.

Don't waste your time. I tried it, was hooked for a day or two, then haven't even opened the program again. Only reason it's still on my computer is I was too darn lazy to remove it. There are only a limited number of extremely small playing fields, (4x4) far too similar to each other and it's no fun making your own if you know the layout completely. I never tried the online version, although I tried to connect and there was nothing available. Total waste of time if you ask me.

I have to say that I just installed sound RTs and I like it. I think that people should know that when you choose to play on your computer or against the computer, I mean, theirs two modes. Invite passive computer, or invite agressive computer. I like both modes. But I think one of the dissadvantages to both is that with agressive, you have enemies comeing at you before you have a chance to get anything built or recrute any nights. The other mode passive computer is good too. you have a chance to build and recrute and all that. But no enemies ever atack you.

Ok.
To zhuuraan - try to ddownload the latest versions - there are more maps than 4x4 - much much bigger maps.
And to post 4, keep smiling. It wants little bit of practice against aggressive computer. I usually manage to arm and build enough.

hmm mixed reviews. I'll have to give this a try. I've been told by many people that u really only need the mouse for attacking in WOW, but I'm not that great at using the mouse, unless its magnified. I'm not a fan of audiogames either, I like being able to see what I'm doing, but I guess since I'm getting mixed reviews on this one, I'll give it a try.

Post 7 by Munkey (Veteran Zoner) on Saturday, 31-May-2008 12:13:35

Well I stand corrected with the computer beeing in passive mode, their is still the chance for battle. It just seems like you have to goe to whare an enemy might be in order to go into battle. In other words you have to explore.
Also if anyone plays online, let me know, I'd like to play against some people and see how I doo.

This is only for windows right?

Post 9 by Munkey (Veteran Zoner) on Sunday, 01-Jun-2008 11:41:56

I think so. Not sure though.

Post 10 by chikorita (move over school!) on Sunday, 01-Jun-2008 14:31:01

No, there are also versions for mac and linux.

Post 11 by blindndangerous (the blind and dangerous one) on Sunday, 01-Jun-2008 18:07:40

sweet. I'm checking this out then for the mac, and if i like it, for windows when I get my windows laptop back. I'll let u guys know what I think of it.

Post 12 by blindndangerous (the blind and dangerous one) on Tuesday, 03-Jun-2008 15:10:00

ok, I've got the windows version, and am now working on the campaign mode. Only problem is, all my guys keep getting their asses kicked, my footman, and archer. It says that archers r able to fire from long range distances, but mine won't. Any help on what I can do to keep my guys alive?

Post 13 by blindndangerous (the blind and dangerous one) on Tuesday, 03-Jun-2008 17:08:43

Ok, I've beaten all 3 chapters of the campaign. Kinda short if u ask me, but whatever. Is their a way to unlock more, or is that it?

Post 14 by Munkey (Veteran Zoner) on Tuesday, 03-Jun-2008 18:59:44

Music master how is this done? beeting alll three chapters of the campain I mean?

Post 15 by blindndangerous (the blind and dangerous one) on Tuesday, 03-Jun-2008 21:59:53

In the single player option, hit enter on single player, then go down till u hear campaign. Then chose prologue or chapter 1, beat it, then that will unlock chapter 2 and so on.

Post 16 by Munkey (Veteran Zoner) on Wednesday, 04-Jun-2008 10:44:01

Right I know this but how do you go about beeting the first chapter? and the second chapter and the third? Also their is an option to just start a game on one of the squares without actually going into one of the campains. Then you can play as long as you like without haveing to beet any chapters.

Post 17 by blindndangerous (the blind and dangerous one) on Wednesday, 04-Jun-2008 15:15:34

In the first chapter, u just have to build some buildings. Second, its defeating enemies, and 3rd is building, defeating enemies, and defeating the enemies buildings. O, anyone know y that I can't access the server directory? When I go to connect to a server, the game tells me that it can't connect to the server directory, and to check my internet connections.

Post 18 by Munkey (Veteran Zoner) on Wednesday, 04-Jun-2008 15:44:37

Thanks for all the help Music master. I completed the first chapter. The second chapter I'm still working on they only give me two footmen for christe sakes. lol but anyways. Hey I like your user name.

Post 19 by blindndangerous (the blind and dangerous one) on Wednesday, 04-Jun-2008 20:06:17

thanks. Ahh, I had that problem too. Build some barricks, grab some gold, and see what the orders are for the barricks. That may fix your shortage of footman and archers.

Post 20 by Munkey (Veteran Zoner) on Friday, 06-Jun-2008 12:07:50

Ok all just want to give you a good tip. if you don't choose the campain option in the main menue, you can just choose to start on a spacific square. If you choose to do that. It seems like the farther down you go, the more gold you start out with, and the more peasants you have etc. You also have more than one farm. So you can concintrate on building a powerfull millitary. Like last night I kicked ass. I killed about 485 enemy. and nutralized about 10 buildings. It was cool.

Post 21 by blindndangerous (the blind and dangerous one) on Friday, 06-Jun-2008 15:10:42

What the heck do the other ones do? its in that game on menu, but it says stuff like "1, 2, 3, SG1, SG2, KEL1, KEL2", what does that mean?

Post 22 by Munkey (Veteran Zoner) on Friday, 06-Jun-2008 18:57:46

I havn't figured that out yet. I guess the thing to do would be just to hit enter and check it out.

Post 23 by the icon (Zone BBS Addict) on Thursday, 17-Jul-2008 5:07:50

i just found this game last night, started playing at about ten, and then next thing i new it was 2 30. hey i'm having troubl with chapter 2, i cant build anywhere so i keep getting killed.

Post 24 by hamster (Zone BBS Addict) on Thursday, 17-Jul-2008 5:24:57

Why can't you build?
You get an other meadow, when you exhaust goldmine, then there are meadows around your starting position.
I didn't play it for some time, but no problem. I'd like to play against some real players.

Post 25 by blindndangerous (the blind and dangerous one) on Thursday, 17-Jul-2008 13:02:58

I'll challenge ya hamster, if ya want. I'm not that great, but I think I'm ok at it. For danny, in chapter 2, control your peasants, and have them move left 1 square. Theirs a gold mine their. Have them work on that, then if u have one more peasant to spare, have him go 1 square right. Theirs woods that way. As u get more gold, get more peasants to help with it. If u want, stop one of the groups, and build a barricks on the meadow that is in the square A1. Grab yourself some footman, and keep going. Get some archers too, when u have a sawmill, and the gold and wood. I'm not that much into stragety or audiogames, but this one is awesome. By far, the best audiogame i've played.

Post 26 by the icon (Zone BBS Addict) on Thursday, 17-Jul-2008 20:43:31

thanks, it is awesome, i managed to build up an army of like 30 today so that was fun lol, and yeah, it would be good to play against some real people some time

Post 27 by blindndangerous (the blind and dangerous one) on Thursday, 17-Jul-2008 22:00:17

What version r u using? I checked the site today, and a new unstable version is out. I grabbed it, it is great.

Post 28 by the icon (Zone BBS Addict) on Friday, 18-Jul-2008 7:38:39

whats the difference betwene the stable and unstable? if its really good, i might check it out, hey, if you just click a certain square in the single player menue and you only have passive computers, will you actually find enimies?

Post 29 by blindndangerous (the blind and dangerous one) on Friday, 18-Jul-2008 9:29:59

No, because the passive enemies, stick around to their squares. U have to find them, and aggressive will hunt u down. The difference is that the changes have been fixed. For instance, I was using one of the stable versions, and making my peasants was extremely slow. When I did it on the unstable version, that was one of the things they fixed, the process was sped up a lot.

Wow, I posted this a long while back and stopped checking this thread cause no one seemed interested in my review of sound rts.
I too would love to have a massive battle with 3 or more people.
IM me if you are getting ready to play and I will set up a server.
Those names that you here when tabbing are maps. You can create your own maps if you wish as well.
The latest one has a few more maps and much better bug fixes..

Count me in.

Post 35 by Munkey (Veteran Zoner) on Tuesday, 22-Jul-2008 15:17:07

Count me in for a match two. My MSN is in my profile. Just add me and I'll conect with you when I'm ready to play or you can let me know when your playing. Its much easier if other people add me to their MSN instead of me Adding them to mine.

Post 36 by hamster (Zone BBS Addict) on Saturday, 26-Jul-2008 16:20:31

Oh, I'll be interested too. but in two weeks - now having vacation with my girlfriend.
I plaied it alot, then I was interested in something different, but I thinkm, I'm able to smack some ugly soldiers and rusty shacks.

Post 37 by BlindTechsNet (Veteran Zoner) on Wednesday, 20-Aug-2008 19:51:16

Post 38 by Munkey (Veteran Zoner) on Wednesday, 20-Aug-2008 20:21:31

Once I spent 6 hours playing that game and I have to tell you, that sound RTS has so much involved in it that I forget what ever I'm thinking about reality wise.
